This year, SME hosted the RAPID conference together with Rapid News Publications Ltd., and combined their nearly 30 years of insights and experience. It was the biggest showcase yet and the new machine highlights were the launch of the Studio printer line by DesktopMetal, the reveal of the printer from Impossible Objects and a new nano-metal and nano-ceramic printer by XJET.
Here are just a few product highlights seen at the showcase:
- DesktopMetal’s Studio: DesktopMetal introduced their new FDM-based printer that used MIM feedstock rods instead of filament, a ceramic release layer as well as a microwave oven for faster sintering
- Formlabs for rapid tooling: Formlabs developed a new high temperature resin for mold inserts
- Internal lattice structure: Carbon’s EPX – a high temperature epoxy – used for a turbine blade model
